I forgot to post about my first century last month. I had originally planned on doing the Tour de St. George later this week, but decided to try the Heber Valley after speaking to my brother Dave. This was his first century last year as well. I thought I would only do the metric century (65 miles), but instead went the full 100 miles. It was a lot of work and very tiring during the climb(s) up next to Jordanelle Reservoir. Being my first century, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. There were about 4 rest stops along the way to refuel and use the bathroom. I was pretty much by myself for about half of it. The scenery was beautiful, but I wasn't really paying attention to a lot of it - I was just trying to get through the ride.
It was definitely a learning experience and I'm glad I was able to get one in this year. I hope to be able to train well enough to do LOTOJA next year - we shall see.
