The Cast is Off!

Allison took Sydni into Dr. Watson early this morning to get her cast off. She took a few pictures so here they are:

Finally after 3 months and one surgery, it is off.

Legacy is Nice!

I drove Legacy today and it was great! I love the fact that semi's are not allowed - it made for such a nice ride home. I think I will continue this route from now on. I hope they increase the speed from 55 to 65, but I doubt it. Driving home I saw the most improvement. Even though there were quite a few cars on it, they were all moving! I got home in 35 minutes! I hope this continues on because I am sick and tired of my commute. Today was great though.

Legacy Tour 2008

I had a good time today on the Legacy race. The road was nice and smooth and mostly flat which made riding pretty easy. I wore a time chip so I'll have to wait to see the results, but from my cycle computer I finished in 55:33 - my avg. speed being 21.6. I felt really good during the entire race and could have gone longer. I was at the front of several different pacelines, and also was able to take turns drafting off some other groups which made it nice. Allison and the kids were there at the end which made it that much better. It was a great day and the weather was perfect.

50-Mile Ride

Today I was able to finally get a 50-mile ride in. I have been trying to find a good route and wasn't sure where to go exactly. I figured out it's almost 25 miles from my house to the Garr Ranch out on Antelope Island. I ended up having to ride the loop out there to make up for a couple miles. I ended up getting 50.48 in 2 hrs, 55 mins. My avg mpg was 17.2. I wish it would have been higher, but there are a couple steep climbs out there and my speed slowed down dramatically when I was climbing those.

Last Saturday when I attempted to ride this route, I got a flat tire on mile 21 and had to have Allison come pick me up. I was an idiot and didn't have a spare tube with me. I made sure to have one today and didn't have to use it thank goodness. It was a good ride and I hope I can gradually increase my distance.

Congrats to Dave by the way. He completed the 206-mile LOTOJA race in just under 10 hours - nice work bro.

Sammy and Buck

Island Park

Last week (Thurs-Sun), we spent time with Mom & Dad, Dave & Julie, and Carolyn & Tom (and all their kids) up in Island Park. We had a great time at the cabin, though it was somewhat off the beaten path, so it took awhile to get to the main road before we could head to West Yellowstone or other activities. Friday morning the guys went golfing at Island Park Village which was pretty fun. We spent time at West Yellowstone looking at some of the shops and also drove into Yellowstone Park to see Old Faithful and some of the geysers. Here are a few pictures from the trip.
